Airtime: The duration of a successful call, that ends with the call termination.

Bluetooth: An industrial specification for wireless personal area networks (PANs). It provides a high-speed wireless connection and exchange of information between devices like personal digital assistants (PDAs), mobile phones, laptops, PCs, printers, and digital cameras via a secure, globally unlicensed short-range radio frequency.

Caller Identification (CID) / Caller Line Identification (CLI): A telephony intelligent network service that transmits the caller's telephone number to the recipient's telephone equipment before the call is answered.

Colour Screen: The display standard of a mobile phone, which is often specified as the colour depth of a screen. Eg. 256k colour display.

Coverage: A geographical area wherein your handset can make and receive calls without any disturbance or call drip.

Changeable Shells: Changeable covers which protects the handset from dust and water.

Data Capability: A facility of transferring data from a laptop, portable fax machine, or personal digital assistant to other compatible receiver.

Data/Fax Capability: A facility to send and receive fax, data files, access the Internet to send email through the mobile phone.

Dual Band Technology: A functionality that allows a mobile phone to support two-frequency band out of the four major GSM (or TDMA) bands.

DTMF (Dual-tone Multi Frequency): Used for telephone signalling over the line in the voice frequency band to the call switching centre. Also known as Touch Tone or Tone Dialling.

Digital camera: An electronic device used to capture and store photographs electronically. These cameras do not use photographic films and are typically multifunctional.

Digital camera with Flash: An electronic device with a flash to capture any image and store photographs electronically instead of using a photographic film.

Dual Screen: The double display facility, which acts as a Caller ID equipment in various handsets.

ETSI (European Telecommunications Standards Institute: An organization which formulates GSM and DECT standards.

GSM (Global System for Mobile Communication): the most popular standard for the mobile phone communication and is based on digital wireless technology TDMA. It enables the mobile users to use their phones in many parts of the world.

GPRS (General Packet Radio Service): A mobile data service available to GSM mobile phone users. It provides moderate speed data transfer by using unused TDMA channels in the
GSM network.

MMS (Multimedia Messaging Service): a standard for telephony messaging system that allows sending those messages which include multimedia objects like images, audio, video, and rich text.
